We're excited to announce our first ever Dive-In at The Ranch
Dock Diving Contest! The dates are September 19 and 20, and the

What's the difference between
the three events?
We have three events:
1) Dives: This is the regular
distance jumping, and is divided into divisions by distance jumped.
Each dive is similar to a "run" in agility -but you get TWO jumps per
Dive--best jump of the two is recorded. You can enter 1 Dive
or all 3 to increase your chances of getting to the Finals! Each division is
broken down by jump distance (see below), so you will only be competing
against dogs that jump roughly the same distance! Two
handlers may be on the dock - but only one is allowed to give directions
(commands, throwing, etc.).
2) Speed Doggie: This
event is a race down the dock that will be clocked by radar: ever
wondered how fast your dog runs? We'll be able to tell you
because on this event distance does not matter - it's all about how fast
your dog runs down the dock!
3) Vertical Challenge:
This event hoists a bumper into the air and the dog has to grab the
bumper and land in the water for the jump to count.
the coolest part about this competition?
Our judging! We've hired Webb Anderson, a
premier agility competitor and AKC judge, to use his revolutionary
software product to video, record, and measure each jump!
This software is really cool, and we can slo-mo the movement back and
forth to watch the action. The computer has a built in
measuring tool that will give us an instant measurement of where the
dog's butt hits the water!
What's even cooler?
You can purchase these videos to send to friends and family, upload to
YouTube or FaceBook, or add to your personal webpage. The
videos are available in three formats: 1) the jump
unedited - one jump per .avi file 2) two jumps overlaid one on top
of the other and 3) two jumps side by side. You can
choose to include the official measurement as well, which will then be
embedded into the file! This is a super cool way to
analyze your dog's stride off the dock, your throwing skills, as well as
your dog's jump and trajectory! Price is $10 for 2
jumps or $20 for every jump during the weekend (no practice jumps will
be filmed).
Please keep in mind that the competition videos will be closer up to the
dock with a tighter view - these were taken during a practice session...

how about a super cool photo?
Beth Bradshaw will be on hand to catch your
dog in action. She has been photographing dogs for years,
and is familiar with catching "fast" dogs from her agility
photographs...
what you get WHEN YOU ENTER:
Each dog will receive a printout with their official scores for every
dive they enter. The first 30 contestants to send in
their registration will receive a special bonus bag filled with tons of
dog-related goodies!
What you can win!
We have some super cool prizes already lined up from some fabulous
sponsors, including my favorite employer - Purina! Top
3 Finalists in the Dives, the Speed Doggie Game, and the Vertical
Challenge will receive both prizes and trophies! In all, we'll have over $1000 worth of prizes to give
out!
how far
does my dog have to jump?
We want every dog to have the opportunity to win, so we've opened
the divisions so that both new dogs and seasoned dogs have a chance at
showing off their stuff! Young and old, short and tall - the
great thing about this contest is that every dog can be a winner!
Each division will compete against each other so even dogs jumping a
short distance have a chance at a grand prize! Each Dive
will consist of 2 jumps, and the best jump will be recorded.
Division finals will be decided based on each individual dog's best
jump.
TOP 5 IN EACH DIVISION WILL ADVANCE TO THE FINALS, AND TOP 3
FINALISTS WIN PRIZES!

What's the cost?
This fee schedule is per handler - if you share a dog please complete a
new Registration Form for each handler/dog team. Each dog
may only compete once per dive.
