Who are We?
It takes a lot of knowledgeable dog people to
make a multi-faceted business like The Canine Ranch run smoothly.
Here are a few of the faces you can expect to meet when you come to The Ranch:
| Chris McLeod |
 |
Owner/Manager: Chris started
training dogs in 2000, when her spunky Brittany did over $3,000 in
damages to her home in 3 months. Since then, she has become
one of the top trainers in Georgia, and competes in agility, frisbee,
and dock diving. She is a member of the Purina Incredible
Dog Team, and travels the nation with her dog crew to help educate and
entertain audiences at balloon festivals, state fairs, animal expos,
charity organizations, and has even traveled to South America to do
PIDT shows. In August of '09, she appeared on David Letterman to
help showcase dog diving for the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge, and in
May 2010 the Ranch was featured in an article that made the front page
of The Wall Street Journal. |
| Scott McLeod |
 |
Owner: Although Scott still maintains his
career in sales, he is committed to helping The Ranch excel in the dog
world, and you can often catch him around The Ranch helping with the
kennels, assisting at the pool, or his favorite past-time - yard work!
|
| Brian Cash |
 |
Sheep Herding Instructor +
Obedience/Behavioral Instructor + Kennel Staff: Brian has
raised dogs since the age of 9. He has been training sheepdogs for
10
years and teaching professionally full time for the past 3 years - his first year
in competition he won 1st place in every event he entered. He has
competed all over the country, and the UK as well. Brian will split
his time at the Ranch between teaching behavioral work, obedience, dock diving and
(most importantly!) sheep
herding - as well as helping in various aspects around the Ranch. |
| Holly
Schmidt |
 |
Agility Instructor: Since starting her agility
training 9 years ago, Holly has excelled with multiple dogs in USDAA,
AKC and TDAA agility. In 2003, she was in the Top 10 Nationals in
Long Beach, CA, and had an impressive 6th place finish.
Holly continues to compete with Pippin and her two Bichon's (Balto and
Roxy). Holly teaches Beginner and Intermediate agility classes on
Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

the driving forces behind the Catahoula United Rescue Society, and

Fly Ball Instructors:
Howard and Danie have been training and competing in
Flyball since 1999. Howard
was the Regional Director for Region 14 (AL,GA,TN) for NAFA (North
American Flyball Association) from 2000 through 2004.
His Lab Ubu has achieved the Onyx Award and is among the top
ranked flyball dogs in his breed and is still going strong at age 11.
Howard and his wife Danie were fundamental in starting 3 of the
largest flyball clubs in the region (Huntsville, Nashville, Chattanooga)
by providing training seminars and ongoing support.
Danie's Border Collie Geordi was the first dog in Region 14 to
earn the FM title and the first to receive the Regional MVP award.
Her Cairn Terrier Autumn achieved breed rankings of 1 and 14 in
U-FLI and NAFA point achievements at the height of her career. |
What about the Dogs!?
Meet The Canine Ranch crew: Deuce, Copper, Calico, Dante, and Deja
Vu
Meet Calico:

Meet Calico,
a 10 year old Brittany. When she was a
puppy, she had a huge chewing problem, promptly going to work on my big
screen TV, a leather recliner, and the entire carpet in my basement.
Calico had more energy than we could get rid of in our daily walks, so we
started training in agility.
Today, she is a Master Agility Champion 4 (MACH4) in AKC
agility. She has achieved her Master Agility Dog
Championship
in USDAA agility. She's also a member of the Purina Incredible Dog Team,
and travels with me both nationally and internationally performing in front
of thousands of spectators. Calico is proof-positive that dogs labeled as
"high energy" or "not smart" can be re-directed towards positive behaviors
Meet Dante:
Meet
Dante, a 7 year old
Border Collie.
Dante is proficient at agility,
dock diving and frisbee. Although agility is her first love and she competes
at the Excellent level, she has really excelled in the frisbee disc dog
sport. Lately she has also won several placements in the
dock diving competitions. She was the 2006 Argus Cup Champion in Atlanta, and the 2005 Dixie
Disc Dog Champion in the Open division.
Dante also travels with me as part of the Purina
Incredible Dog Team, and puts on a high energy show in both agility and frisbee.
She's also starred in the Star94 Petapalooza event. And she's not content to stop there -
this girl loves the water and her new favorite sport is dock diving!
Meet Deuce:
Deuce
is a 3
year old Border Collie. He is a speed demon, and loves to
run and jump. Two months after learning to swim he was
jumping over 20 feet on the dock. He's super athletic but is
also a people lover and prefers to sit on my lap or be near me!
With his infectious smile and non-stop attitude,
he's always a crowd pleaser! He greets children with a natural
"sit", and loves to come out after shows and hog all the attention!!
Meet Deja Vú:
Deja Vú is Dante's baby girl and our pride and joy.
She's 2 years old and has already
displayed her talents in frisbee, agility and dock diving, and is starting
to learn sheep herding as well! She is super friendly with crowds and
loves to jump straight up into the air for the frisbee. Watch out for
this little girl in the future!
